Ahh summertime. The time where weddings are plentiful. The time where everyone wants to have a beautiful wedding. Weddings can be expensive. Some people opt to go to the courthouse and have a reception, some opt to have an expensive wedding, and then some people like myself opt to have a wedding that looked expensive but wasn’t. What did I do differently? Let’s take a look….let’s start with the price of my wedding grand total 3,300.00 (it was probably less but I rounded it out)
I don’t believe in spending thousands on a wedding…..for one I don’t like wasting a penny and whose to say we will stay married. Second I could take that money and buy a house or pay off some student loans or better yet put towards my very own business. I don’t need to show off to people and have a nice wedding my show off comes in the form of having no bills from a wedding years after we are married. The biggest cost for my wedding was the catering which cost me 1200 bucks. The food was nasty and I wish that I had cooked it myself. ( I use to own a catering company) Anywhoo, that was my biggest expense so let’s add up
Now on to my dress. I bought my dress from Davids Bridal….I was skinny so I was able to cop a dress for the low my dress and shoes + tiara 300.
My cake was donated from Publix Supermarkets I worked there since I was 16 and all of my former co workers + some of my new ones ( I worked at 3 different publix) pitched in and bought the cake for me…that was free
My DJ was 200 bucks he did both the wedding and reception for one price because he liked my friend and I promised him a hookup afterwards……that never happened but he still stuck to his end of the bargain lol
My photographer was my moms best friend husband who was a former photographer in the Navy….he did it for free as a gift
The waterfront reception place was 1,000 for 5 hours. It was originally 1200 but I was able to talk them down by 200 because I told them I would clean the place myself so there was no need to hire a cleaning crew. I actually didn’t clean but made my cousin and his boys clean he said he had no gift to give me so I told him that would be my gift.
We are at a total of 2,700
Decorations…my hubs family took care of that for us and we only had to pay 400 out of our pockets they paid the difference as a gift to us.
2.700 + 400 = 3,100
The rest of the costs went to party favors and invitations. My wedding looked like it was 10,000+ but it actually wasn’t.
I found a way to cut cost as much as possible by using friends and family who had talent. There is no need to spend a lot on weddings take that money and invest in something that you can be happy about long after the wedding is over.
