Virtual Stores

I ran across an article a few days ago that talked about virtual stores and how they can make shopping more sustainable. Check out the article here

Imagine standing on the platform waiting for your bus to come and you see a virtual store display where you can order things you need and then have it waiting for you when you get home while literally never going to the store. This may be the new reality of our future here in America. This is already happening in other countries in the world and of course we in the US will catch on sooner or later. As a mother I would love for their to be a grocery store where I can buy things online then go to the store and just pick it up. What a convenience it would be for mothers or busy women like me. Harris Teeter one of my favorite grocery chains has started doing it with their Express Lane where you can order online and pay a flat rate to have your groceries ready when you get to the store. For me I would prefer to buy my meat on my own but for dry goods this would be awesome.

Is online virtual shopping going to take over? Is this something you would like or would you rather things remain the same?

I like shopping online it saves me time the only thing I hate is the shipping costs. I am cheap and the shipping at some places is enough for me to go to the actual store and just buy what I need. Shopping online has it’s good and bad and in today’s technology driven world the good is outweighing any argument we can come up with. Although a real store gives you the convenience of asking for advice from a salesperson whats to stop us from doing that online. Some stores may come up with a virtual dressing room and all you need are your measurements.  Which do you prefer and why?

Buy now and see what comes after my why! http://www.divaswithapurpose.com/after-why-comes-how/

  • if i could have it my way, i’d order online (with the exception of meat, like you) and have it delivered right to my front door. one of the things i’m looking forward to the most is being able to afford to hire someone to do these kinds of errands. it takes so much time and i just don’t enjoy it. pretty soon – everything we do will become virtual.

    • I know that’s right I am surprised no one has come up with a business like that where others do the work for you for a reasonable price. I can pay someone to do small errands throughout the day. I might have to put one out there as a business idea or something.

  • I prefer online for sure. I’m with you on the meat selection. All though, I despise Walmart so much, I’d be willing to take my chances on getting whatever they send me. I’m all about convenience! This is cool! I’ll be looking forward to it taking over the US!

    • I hate walmart also especially their meat I have heard some things…….and when I hear more than 10 people tell me the same thing from different parts of the world I listen lol

  • With grocery shopping, I definitely wouldn’t mind a virtual type thing! I HATE grocery shopping and it always makes me hungry! Other shopping however, I love to have “instant gratifcation” by taking my purchases home as soon as I purchase them! LOL! I don’t mind shopping online, but sometimes I just want a little retail therapy by going to the mall and actually feeling the stuff that I’m buying. 🙂 Great post.

    • Nothing wrong with some good ole fashion retail therapy that is a great point though instantly taking things home right then is much better than waiting….and waiting…..

  • I don’t mind shopping online for things like clothing, books and beauty supplies but I’d rather pick out my own produce and stuff in person when it comes to food. Plus, I’ve heard some bad reviews from people who have used the order online option for grocery stores. One of my friends ordered had a store put her entire order in a box and it weighed 92 lbs! She had to wrestle that box into her house alone in the rain.

    • Thanks for stopping by. I like to go to the stores to get away from the kids what on earth would I do if there were no stores lol

  • Visiting from #SITSSharefest.

I really do hate shipping costs but I do love shopping online so I usually wait until I need a couple of things so I can enjoy free shipping in most cases.

BTW, I’m hosting a cute Valentine’s Day giveaway over at my blog: http://bit.ly/140pnnc

  • If it’s clothes/ shoes.. then I need a real store.. I hate returning stuff by mail. But, I like online for books, tech stuff, and other things that I don’t need to touch and feel.
